Find fires near you

Your position is used once to query NASA satellite data, and is never stored.

How this works

NASA's FIRMS system publishes active-fire detections from the VIIRS and MODIS instruments aboard NASA and NOAA satellites. Each detection is a spot where the sensor measured fire-level heat from orbit, usually published within about 3 hours of the overpass. Neighbouring detections are grouped here into single incidents so the list reads as fires rather than as pixels.

Your coordinates are sent once, used to query that satellite data, and then discarded — nothing is stored. Bear in mind this shows where fires are actively burning, not fire perimeters, road closures or evacuation zones. For safety and evacuation information, always follow your local emergency services.
